since Byron Katie is going to be in town (Austin, town)

THE ESSAY FOR THE FRIDAY THE NAME OF TODAY
AND WHAT IS "TODAY"
ANYWAY?

ONE MORE CHANCE TO LOVE
AND LEARN ABOUT LOVING
AND LOVE
ABOUT LEARNING

AND LEARN
ABOUT LEARNING:

We want love, sure, all of us do

and
when we are lucky
we feel love as who we are
and
ACT in ways that

Take care of,
Nourish,
Adore,
Enhance,
Give attention,
Pleasure,
Awaken,
Calm,
Happify,
Relax,
Release,
Stimulate,
Delight
Light up
Lighten
Brighten

Another person.

This is our job in life,
maybe,
what with concepts like
"life purpose,"
"life mission,"
"what I was meant to do,"
and so on,
all fraught with peril if they come into the good old
awful
"should" machine.

And, who knows what the purpose of a living being is.

the famous quote, true/ untrue from Bach
when asked why 22 kids and a zillion works of music:

"For my own amusement
and
the Glory of God."

That doesn't include all the above definitions of love
as an
action
except
one,
a very nice one:

amusing himself:  love

glorifying God: love

So to the list of the actions results of loving
another
we can add:

Amusing
Glorifying

and we can re invent the directionality of the list and say:

these are all the results of and'/ or intentions in
one;
loving others
two:
loving ourselves

and underneath it all:
maybe something like this

loving being a live
even the time we waste looking at a computer forgetting that we are
breathing
and have a spine
and a smile
and sexual organs
and ten toes
and ten fingers

but we could be
shoulders
ribs
pelvis
hip joints
thighs
be remembering that
and would
that not be something like the
famous
LOVE

giving ourselves that sort of attention?

methinks so.
how about you?

For the Glory of God and our own Delight, Day Thirty One

For love of God and my own amusement. This is the phrase that comes to me now, and perhaps this would be a sweet way to consider our day.

Bach, supposedly, when asked why he had 22 kids, or whatever it was, and wrote a thousand works of music, or whatever it was, and his answer was:

"For my own amusement and the Glory of God."

What would the day be like today
and tomorrow
to see if both these
could be part and parcel
(whatever that means)
of the great game of life.

Sometimes I see the two aims of being present
and being of good cheer sufficient
to keep my life at a very sweet
and fine level.

And the Glory of God
has a slightly different ring to it
than being present,
though in the present the glory
of being alive
certainly shines through.

This is your game today,
just be delighted with whatever and all that
you do,
and find some deeper glory
to it.

How?

This is your discovery.

Dig in.

Wake up.

Slow down, less effort, more attention.

Learning.

All for you, all for God.

For the glory of God
and
your own amusement.

See where that goes!!!

Good.
