Friday and the sun is shining

Some place are getting cold
and maybe they had beautiful days
somewhere between June and October

in Austin we had about
zero
and now it's
beautiful
so maybe that's "fair"

or maybe it's the way the globally
warming Earth is playing
its game this year

for whatever reason
I commend you
all
to take some time
out
doors

today

not rushing to the car

not "getting a lot done"
in your garden

not even doing your "power walk"
or walk and talk walk

and what's left:
just go out
and see where your feet
lead you

is that fair

on a Friday?

when there is
"too much to do"?

yes

why?

someday you will take
your last breath
on this planet Earth

what happens next is belief
superstition, possibility,
who knows

but the last breath comes
and as it approaches

you get to be present
to the immense glory
of being alive
and having been alive

fall
does that to people
somehow

gives the preview to the
looking back
and feeling the immense
glory and wonder of
it all

so fall out of your routine
and into the fresh air

and feel experience see hear
notice enjoy
whatever happens

good

67: To heaven, one breath remembered/ sensed/felt/ enjoyed at a time

One breath and awakening at a time

We breathe in. The first sentence of the book was something to that effect. Maybe the last will be a breathing sentence also.

This is our sentence in life: you want to live, breathe. It’s the law of motion, the law of life. No breathing, no fire inside (metaphorical, and the real deal: oxygen combining with our food to combine real heat in our real bodies), no fire inside no energy, no energy, no motion, no motion, no life.

So be it.

And most life doesn’t require and/ or have the gift that we humans have, the gift of awareness.

We can be aware that we are breathing.

Right now, we can be aware that we are breathing.

And right now, too.

This is so cool. You don’t have to wait until the “time is right” to be aware of your breathing. You can be healthy or not so. You can be beautiful, or not so. Young or old, rich or poor, blah or blah, you get the point and even while reading these little ink spots on the page, or pixels on the computer, or hearing these vibrations in the air, you are either: breathing in, at a pause between breathing in and breathing out, breathing out, or at a pause between breathing out and breathing in.

Holding the breath you have to be in one of those pauses, and whatever we start up doing once the holding is done gives us a clue where the pause was.

And that doesn’t matter.

Doesn’t even matter that we are breathing in or out.

Just the game matters, and only to you if you want it to. What fun can you have today seeing sensing noticing feeling enjoying exploring just where you are in the breathing game?

That’s it.

Heaven is this moment with nothing more required. Following or sensing our breathing is one way to come to the moment. Keep returning and returning. Enjoy. Enjoy.

come on up

our phone message
says,
via my voice
and some radio shack machine:

"Messages for Marlie Wesner
and Chris Elms
....
Come on up
if you'd like to work the soil
or
wake up to now."

since people are
often afraid to work
and even more reluctant to work
in someone else's garden

few come up

and waking up?
is that a big draw?

not really

waking up
to now
is
hey,
something
to do later,
maybe on vacation in Mexico,
or this weekend
or
yeah, yeah, this is cool:
at the next Thing
at Spirit Rock,

and so the message's
tail
progaganda/
invitation/
weeding out
device

isn't listened to

it's just
whizzed by

and some message
is left
or
not

so be it

and
and
and...

and waking up
to now
and the soil

are always
here

always
waiting

in no hurry

(and
sometimes
i am
in a hurry
about this
for me
and
worst of all
for others)

oh, well
i'm a fool
sometimes

la
la

what else
is
new???
