Friday and the sun is shining

Some place are getting cold
and maybe they had beautiful days
somewhere between June and October

in Austin we had about
zero
and now it's
beautiful
so maybe that's "fair"

or maybe it's the way the globally
warming Earth is playing
its game this year

for whatever reason
I commend you
all
to take some time
out
doors

today

not rushing to the car

not "getting a lot done"
in your garden

not even doing your "power walk"
or walk and talk walk

and what's left:
just go out
and see where your feet
lead you

is that fair

on a Friday?

when there is
"too much to do"?

yes

why?

someday you will take
your last breath
on this planet Earth

what happens next is belief
superstition, possibility,
who knows

but the last breath comes
and as it approaches

you get to be present
to the immense glory
of being alive
and having been alive

fall
does that to people
somehow

gives the preview to the
looking back
and feeling the immense
glory and wonder of
it all

so fall out of your routine
and into the fresh air

and feel experience see hear
notice enjoy
whatever happens

good

The untragedy of "things ending"

The Buddha said it:
life is impermanent.

He said also life is suffering,
and what I think he really meant is:
when we fight the impermanence,
we suffer.

Or, more fully:
when we fight Reality
we suffer.

As Byron Katie
and I
say:
When we fight reality
we lose
but only a 100% of the time.

So, for what ramble is this the
pre-amble?

Penina and I have choosen
to create a non-blaming,
loving the other,
no complaining to the other,
or to other people about the other,
end to our "relationship."

Which means,
actually,
we are creating a whole new relationship.

The scary thing about this:
we are jumping into the world of
"I don't know."

The wonderful amazing "almost enlightened" thing
about this:
we are jumping into the world of
"I don't know."

The world of "I don't know'
has another name.

It's called being present.
In the present
we can dredge up a story from the past
about what's next,
but that's just a story.

Who knows what's next?

What a great gift Penina and I
have given ourselves,
this jumping into the world
of the now
as we discover
whatever we are going to discover
as your love
changes and expands out into
the world.

Good.

when things go wrong

single rose

when things go wrong...

do the work:

who would we be
without the story?

usually excited
to figure out:
what is really going on?
how did this happen?
what would happen different if
we tried this,
or this,
or that?
how can i use this
to learn something
really amazing?

this is a nice place
to be

because then:
things go well,
sweet
thing don't go well,
great

What who thoughts on:: : God

This was our assignment in class tonight as part of to yoga teacher training,
I'm presently taking at Ananda.

Here's what I wrote:

Thoughts on, Who is God:

God
is the world of Nature
is the Vastness of the Universe
via Byron Katie, God is everything

old time assholes' God:
God is the big dude who has all the rules
God is My Rules get to kill your rules
God is the Judge who says what people should do
God is on "our side."

in this Ananda setting, it appears that God is
omnipresent
transcendent
beyond words
supremely worth unifying with

My now idea of
God:
being silent
that thrilled current of Life
of Awareness
of being part of a VAst Universe
of being given this gift of Life

God as evolution and Nature
and some weird sort of
mystical undercurrent
of love
and
unity

And,
right now (when i wrote the assignment)
God is being in this class
where the teachers are good
enough to bring up the chance
for us all to write
"What is your idea of God?"

Wonderful Relationship, part 12

Sometimes we go about ruining our relationships with complaining. Our friend / partner/ lover is doing something we don’t like and we yap, yap, yap, about “You always do this.” And it’s twin, “You never ….”

The first question of the Work of Byron Katie: Is it true? Should be enough to get us laughing about our always and never statements.

But, what do we really want?

Well, at one level we want them to do something different.

Say, they pick food off our plate and we don’t like that.

We can COMPLAIN: “You are such a pig. You act like everything is yours.”

We can DEMAND: “This drives me crazy. You have to stop this.”

We can REQUEST: “I’d really like it if you’d stop picking food off my plate.”

Now, a request is a hidden demand if the person has to only reply to our request in the way we want.

So, say for some reason, they just love to pick to food off our plate, or keep forgetting and do it now and then.

Here’s an interesting distinction: love vs getting our way.

If we have to get our way, we can keep demanding, or complaining or requesting. If we can get beyond that it’s all about me syndrome, then sometimes we can request again, and sometimes just be charmed at the way they do whatever they do, including drive us crazy sometimes.

If we can only love the other person when things are done our way, we don’t really know what love is yet.
